Prato, 30 May 2020 – Shock in Prato: the former MEP of the League Claudio Morganti, 47, was arrested together with an accomplice of 25 for the theft of electronic gadgets occurred in the company owned by Morganti himself and who works for another company, from Milan, which distributes products to large chains and shops for the sale.

The carabinieri investigated some disappearances of goods that occurred in the warehouse of the company, which is located in Calenzano and that handles electronic material such as mobile phones, tablets, headphones. The report had been made by the Milanese company.

The carabinieri of the Operational Unit of Signa they went back to the former MEP, blocking him on the fact while loading a van to take away the goods. On the van there was goods for 7500 euros while at the house of the two (even the accomplice is from Prato) material was found for 80 thousand euros of which the origin must be ascertained. The carabinieri blitz took place on Friday 29 May. The two were tried for direct after spending a night in a security cell.

Morganti was a former MEP of the League in the four-year period 2009-2013. In the subsequent legislature he was not re-elected. In April 2013 he left the party due to conflicts with the secretariat.
