Sustainable micro-mobility? As usual, it’s up to the Japanese to go further and invent the inventive. That is, an inflatable motor that once folded is inside a backpack. Perfect for commuter. The Poimo e-scooter, developed by the University of Tokyo, can be inflated in just over a minute, using an electric pump. made of thermoplastic polyurethane and weighs just 5.5 kg.
The name was not given at random: it recalls the initials of Portable and Inflatable Mobility (portable and inflatable mobility) and was conceived thanks to the collaboration between the research organization Mercari R4D and a group of students from the University. The rigid elements to be installed later such as engine, wheels, battery and knobs. Currently only the prototype exists, but based on what the inventors believe, the final version will be lighter and more practical than the current one. One of the differences with the other scooters? It has four wheels instead of two.
