“END ANY DISCRIMINATORY ACT”
Here and in other cities for several days, demonstrations and protests have continued for condemning the violence committed by the police and asking more generally for abuses against communities of African origin to stop. In the note of the African Union, the Resolution against racial discrimination in the United States of America signed in Cairo in 1964, during the first summit of the heads of state and government of the Organization for African Unity, the forerunner of the UA.
In light of that document, the President of the Commission reiterated that the AU “reaffirms its refusal for the continuous acts of discrimination that affect black citizens in the US”. Therefore, Mahamat appealed to the American authorities to “step up efforts to end any racially or ethnically discriminatory act.”
