The Maranello company gave the Finn the single-seater with which Kimi won the Austin GP 2018, the last red triumph of the 2007 world champion. “We hope you enjoy it”, the Cavallino’s message via social media
gift for kimi
To make it known with a post on his Instagram profile was Kimi himself, who remained in the orbit of the Cavallino after moving to Alfa Romeo Racing. Räikkönen published the delivery photos, thanking the Italian team for the welcome gift. “Thanks Scuderia Ferrari” wrote the Espoo driver, “with this I won in the USA in 2018”. Apparently the car was parked in the garage of the Räikkönen house, together with his numerous cross motorcycles (a discipline of which the 2007 world champion is a great enthusiast). The remote ‘dialogue’ with Ferrari then continued online, with a Maranello tweet (below) addressed to Kimi; “We hope you enjoy it”
the first with the halo
Austin’s was the tenth victory in red for Kimi, the twenty-first in his career adding also those with McLaren and Lotus: on that occasion the Finn managed to keep at bay both the young Max Verstappen (2nd on Red Bull) and the expert Lewis Hamilton (3rd with Mercedes). Equipped with a 1600 cc hybrid V6 engine, the SF71H was the first Ferrari to bring the Halo to the track, a safety device made mandatory by the FIA right from the 2018 season.
