The perfect storm costs us over eight billion euros. It is the price that the Italian economy pays in April in terms of reducing exports, only for non-EU markets.

These are the first Istat data capable of quantifying the impact on businesses of the double shock of April, when the production lockdown on the supply side was added to the restrictions on the international demand side, fully operational from March 25.

Combined provision that produces a for export to non-EU countries collapse of 44.2%, obviously a record in the Istat time series.

Sales that stand at 10.3 billion, from 18.5 in April 2019, with heavy reductions practically everywhere and no visible positive sign.
Collapses are double-digit everywhere, with negative peaks in the order of 60% in India and some African countries.

The better result, not casually,it is for China, whose purchases are “only” reduced by 34%. The freeze in Italy has certainly blocked many shipments here too, but on the demand side, Beijing is certainly the country ahead in terms of time: the first to experience the devastating impact of the virus, the first to put it under control by restoring normalcy internal.
