“Under your protection we seek refuge, Holy Mother of God. Do not despise the pleas of us who are in trial, and free us from all dangers”: thus Pope Francis began the Rosary prayer in the Vatican Gardens to ask for an end to the pandemic.
On the eve of Pentecost Sunday, the pontiff presided over the recitation of the Holy Rosary from the Grotto of Lourdes, in the Vatican Gardens. The Marian celebration is promoted by the Pontifical Council for the Promotion of the New Evangelization, on the theme: “Assiduous and agree in prayer, together with Mary (Acts 1:14)”.
Next to him, in prayer, representing the respective categories, people who in the past few weeks have been at the forefront of the fight against coronavirus: from doctors to nurses, from civil protection to volunteers, from people healed to a family that celebrates the birth of a boy, Jacopo.
