Serological tests by Region
The investigation, as the Italian Red Cross has made known, will be managed by 700 volunteer operators, who have received dedicated training in the past few weeks.
Lombardy will be the region where the greatest number of serological tests will be carried out. Over 20 thousand citizens will be contacted by the operators and volunteers of the Italian Red Cross (CRI). Veneto follows, where 13 thousand tests will be performed and Emilia Romagna where the recruitment of 12 thousand subjects is scheduled. In Campania, Lazio and Sicily over 11 thousand will be carried out. In Piedmont there will be 10 thousand citizens subjected to the serological test and in Valle d’Aosta over 4 thousand citizens will be contacted. As he stated “The overall duration of the survey should be 15 days. However, there is an anticipatory sample of about 20 thousand units. On a first part of the data collected, we will therefore be able to provide advances”, explained the president of Istat, Gian Carlo Blangiardo.
Test will be performed on 150 thousand people
“The test will be performed on a sample of 150 thousand people residing in two thousand Municipalities, distributed by sex, activity and six age classes”, reads the dedicated press release published on the official CRI website.
Croce Rosa Italiana operators will be involved in the home collection and outpatient clinics.
The selected people will be contacted by telephone by the regional centers of the Italian Red Cross to schedule an appointment for blood collection in one of the selected laboratories. At the time of contact, you will also be asked to answer a specific questionnaire prepared by Istat, in agreement with the Scientific and Technical Committee. The test result will be communicated by the Region of residence. “All participants who participate will be assigned an anonymous identification number for the acquisition of the test result. The link of this identification number with individuals will be managed by the investigation team and will be disclosed only to authorized bodies “, reiterates Cri, stressing that” the confidentiality of the participants will be maintained for the duration of the investigation “.
