Serological screening in Rimini
After Piacenza, the serological screening campaign commissioned by the Region to assess the spread of the virus in the most affected areas also arrives in Rimini. The rapid tests will be carried out from May 29 in 10 points of collection of the Healthcare company distributed over the provincial territory; about 57 thousand resident citizens concerned, who will be contacted directly by Ausl Romagna.
The serological tests, which will be carried out with venous sampling, allow to understand if the person has had contact with the virus through the presence of antibodies. If the result is positive, the swab is carried out to check if the disease is currently in progress; if the swab is also positive, taking charge is activated which contemplates observation, isolation of the patient and any therapy. If, on the other hand, the swab fails, there are no further requirements.
In the case of Rimini, the 57 thousand residents in the province who underwent screening – which is always on a voluntary basis – were identified in recent weeks by the Health Directorate of Ausl Romagna among those who had the greatest opportunities for contact with positive people or, in general , with the infection. These include, in particular, Covid 19 patients recovered and all those who have been placed in solitary confinement following epidemiological investigations without being subjected to tampons because they are asymptomatic. Furthermore, among the 57 thousand citizens, a sample of randomly selected people, stratified by gender, age and residence in the province, will also be tested. After this first sample of residents, the expansion of research to other sections of the population will be evaluated.
