1 – Accommodation facilities
In the hotel and in complementary structures, some basic rules apply which must always be respected: the obligation of interpersonal distancing of at least one meter and favoring the differentiation of routes. The spacing must also apply in the lift. Physical barriers are also possible at the reception and at the cash desk; electronic payments and online booking and acceptance should be favored. Adequate information on prevention measures must be provided, also accessible to customers of other nationalities
2 – Cancellations and refunds
The Cura Italia decree extended the “reimbursement” not only to transport (air, sea, rail) but also to stays, therefore in hotels and other accommodation facilities, booked outside of a tourist package; means the stays that the customer then had to cancel due to the Coronavirus emergency. The voucher or refund options therefore also apply to all other bookings. In general, the rules for the protection of consumer rights apply
3 – Sanitation
Airbnb has developed a procedure for its hosts, which is spread over 14 points, on how to clean. They range from the recommendation to use suitably protective clothing when cleaning to the need to empty the vacuum cleaner after each pass. In addition, the platform has also drawn up a list of elements to be cleaned and disinfected: ranging from door knobs to thermostats, from chains of fans and lamps to keys, from switches to irons
4 – Security protocols
The guidelines of the last Dpcm (17 May) confirm the necessary safety and prevention measures also in the hospitality sector. Hotel guests must always wear a mask, as well as employees; in all environments, a wide availability and accessibility to hand hygiene systems (gel) is guaranteed. Each object supplied by the structure in use to customers will be disinfected before and after use, as well as the work surface and reception equipment, handrails, switches, handles. The ventilation and air exchange will be checked
5 – Houses for rent
The Coronavirus emergency has had a major impact on the planning of summer holidays. Even the ‘informal’ structures, such as online platforms like Airbnb, have provided methods of refunds and coverage in case of cancellation of the reservation.
But the company’s guidelines provide for a full refund only in case of cancellation of reservations made by March 14, with check-in between that date and June 30. No “mitigating circumstances” for post-March 14 bookings: “The disease and its consequences were then known and no longer considered unexpected”
6 – Air conditioners
As for the air conditioners that use heat pumps, fan coils or convectors, if it is not possible to guarantee the correct air conditioning of the rooms by keeping the systems completely still, it is necessary to ensure the correct cleaning of the recirculating air filters to maintain the levels of filtration / proper removal. In particular, vents and ventilation grills must be cleaned with clean microfibre cloths moistened with water and soap or with 75% ethyl alcohol, avoiding to spray the products directly on the filters
7 – Restaurants
Hotel restaurants must follow the same rules already provided for all catering activities. The buffets therefore disappear, while for the menus the online consultation on smartphones or the preparation of menus in plasticized print will be privileged. Clearly, the rules on the spacing of one meter between the seats apply. It will also be possible to detect body temperature and prevent access in the event of temperatures above 37.5 degrees
8 – Tourism bonus
To revive the tourism sector, the relaunch decree provides for a contribution of up to 500 euros for families who book in Italian accommodation facilities (hotels, b & b, villages, campsites, farmhouses), for at least three nights. The income limit to access the holiday bonus is 40 thousand euros. The amount of the contribution drops to 300 euros for families consisting of two people. It can be used – only once – from 1st July to 31st December 2020. The bonus can be used 80% as a discount and 20% as a deduction
