There have been 1,260 deaths from coronaviruses in the United States in the past 24 hours. This is what emerges from the data of John Hopkins University. Cases in the US have now exceeded 1.6 million while total deaths are approaching the 100,000 threshold, reaching 95,921.

Africa – The number of confirmed cases of coronavirus in Africa has exceeded the 100,000 threshold: the World Health Organization reports on its website, underlining that the virus has reached every country on the continent since the first infection was registered 14 weeks ago .

Brazil – With 1,001 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, Brazil has overtaken Russia by the number of infections confirmed by Covid-19, becoming the second country with the most coronavirus cases in the world, behind only the USA: local media report, citing the latest data from the Ministry of Health, according to which the overall death toll has risen to 21,048 and that of the infections to 330,890.

China – China has announced that it has not registered any new coronavirus infections for the first time since it started collecting data in January. The announcement comes the day after the opening of the People’s Congress, where “great successes” in the fight against the virus were celebrated. The official death toll for Covid-19 in the country is 4,634, well below the number declared by much smaller countries. Doubts have been expressed in recent months about the reliability of the data released by Beijing.
