Those who receive, instead of cash, a check as compensation for a work performance or following a donation can change the credit title. This is equivalent to saying that he can go to the bank where the person who issued the check has a current account. However, the recipient of the sum of money wonders if a cash check can be cashed without having a checking account. And for those who are wary of this payment instrument, please refer to the article “How to understand if a check is discovered”.
Can I cash a cash check without having a checking account?
Those who do not have a current account with a banking or postal institution have nothing to fear. This is because any check recipient is entitled to the collection of the amount indicated on the credit title. It is therefore sufficient to go in person to one of the branches of the bank from which the payment instrument was issued.
Obviously it is recommended to have a valid identification document. In fact, the banking officer will first have to verify the identity of the applicant for the payment. These investigations are necessary in the presence of subjects who are not included in the banking group.
When the clerk at the counter has verified the identity of the holder of the check, he will liquidate the amount due. The collection operation may however take longer than usual in the presence of particularly significant amounts. In fact, it could happen that the banking institution does not have immediate availability of the sum of money to be settled. In these circumstances, the holder of the credit document will have to book in advance the portion to be collected and proceed with the withdrawal on the set day.
