The compact crossover of the Munich brand combines the aesthetic and functional “model year 2020” with the variant with the rechargeable powertrain. It will go on sale from July

It is one of the most original crossovers on the market, but now three years after the launch it is proposed by BMW with a slight aesthetic touch-up that brings the new phytonic blue color to the debut and offers the front bumper without the fog lights integrated into the LED headlights. But above all people the plug-in version xDrive 25e with plug-in hybrid powertrain which is distinguished by the charging door on the left front fender. The X2 xDrive 25e will be available from July in the Advantage, Advantage Plus, M Sport and M Sport X versions at prices that are likely to start at around € 50,000.

THE AUTONOMY OF THE PLUG-IN


The power of the plug-in hybrid system is 220 HP and the lithium battery has a capacity of 10 kW, for autonomy in electric mode up to 57 km. The xDrive 25e is credited with a maximum speed of 195 km / h and 135 km / h with the only electric motor, while for acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in 6.8 seconds. Finally, it takes about 3.2 hours to recharge the batteries through the optional Wallbox offered by BMW, compared to the five hours required with a domestic socket. The average consumption of the xDrive 25e is 1.7 l / 100 km with 38 g / km of CO2, while that in electric mode is equal to 15 kWh / 100 km. The plug-in hybrid system is based on the 1,500 cc 3-cylinder petrol engine in the 125 hp version as well as combined with a 6-speed automatic transmission and a 95 hp electric motor on the rear axle, for a power, as mentioned , of 220 hp.

SPECIFIC DRIVING MODES

The possibility of selecting the three specific modes, Auto eDrive, Max eDrive and Save Battery, can intervene on the road dynamics of the car, while the other Comfort, Sport and Eco Pro selections remain available, which are also available for petrol and diesel models. Finally, to ensure a better impact on the air of the hybrid plug-in, a 10 mm lowering of the attitude and a different adjustment of springs and shock absorbers also useful for the driving feeling, while the arrangement under the sofa behind the batteries does not penalize the space for luggage which remains between a base of 410 and up to 1,290 liters.
