BlizzCon 2020 canceled due to coronavirus, will return in 2021 as a digital event –

Also there BlizzCon 2020 joins the long list of events affected by the coronavirus, officially coming railing by Activision Blizzard, who gives everyone an appointment directly at BlizzCon 2021, expected to be entirely digital.

“During this period we have held many discussions on what the fact of organizing a classical convention may entail, in light of the current situation and what it can entail in terms of Health & Safety an event of this magnitude, “said BlizzCon executive producer Saralyn Smith in an official statement.

“We also discussed the possible solutions that we can undertake and all of them can result complicated fluctuations in national and local guidelines regarding health in the coming months. In the end, considering all the options, we came to the difficult decision to cancel BlizzCon this year. ”

Smith also explained that although there is no possibility for this year to organize an alternative event to the classic one, the company is still considering a new organization for next year’s event. There is still nothing officially established, therefore, but the BlizzCon 2021 could keep fit digitalto avoid any health and safety issues, also in consideration of the various regulations that will be taken over the next few months.

This will obviously represent a significant upheaval, considering that direct contact between the community and developers, artists, cosplayers, musicians, pro players and more was the foundation of the whole event. In any case, the BlizzCon 2020 will not be held and Activision Blizzard will probably have to think of other systems to organize their own communications and announcements concerning new games and classics. Among the titles that were to have ample space for the event there are Diablo 4 and Overwatch 2, of course, but also information on World of Warcraft and more.
