Adrano, Riccardo’s return home: “exiled” for two months on the outbreak ship

Riccardo Rapisarda returned home last night after more than two months of forced “exile” the 28-year-old adranita who, since 20 March, was stuck aboard the “Oasis of the Seas”, the cruise ship of the “Royal Caribbean”, which became a Covid-19 outbreak. Boat stopped off the US coast of Miami, in the state of Florida, from the moment in which the first infections were registered on the ship.

The young man worked on the ship as a croupier. Riccardo, and many other members of the ship’s crew, had been confined to his cabin since March, surrounded by 157 confirmed cases of Covid-19.

Then the dismissal, the passports withheld, the impossibility of leaving the ship, the negotiations between the Italian consulate, the Farnesina, the naval company and the United States of America that had lost hope for an immediate return to Italy. Only in recent days has the release of the case that mobilized Italian diplomacy.

To welcome him at Catania Fontanarossa airport, coming from Rome, family and friends. In recent days another cruise ship of the “Royal Caribbean” had transferred the adranita and other compatriots to the island of Barbados. Hence the charter flight that transferred them initially to London and then to Italy.

Even the mayor of Adrano Angelo D’Agate, wanted to express his joy for the return of Riccardo Rapisarda. The latter appeared thin, tried by this misadventure, tired from two days of travel that led him from one part of the world to the other.

Now, the boy, once he got home to Adrano, he will have to remain in solitary confinement for 14 days as well as the regional provisions on the containment of Coronavirus.
