To launch the new application, it promoted a complex development process that included converting millions of old color images. The original converted images are also kept unchanged so that black and white images can be compared to color images and are impressed by the accuracy of the coloring process.

The photo coloring technology is licensed by DeOldify, founded by software engineers Jason Antique and Dana Kelly. An earlier version of the technology was donated by Antique to the public in November 2018. Antique and Clay updated the technology again in May 2019, and have continued to improve it for commercial use.

Gilad Yefet, founder and CEO of MyHeritage, experimented with converting his family photos to color: “On a personal note, it was an exciting process for me to see my grandparents and their parents wearing color in front of my eyes. All my relatives with whom I shared the photos were also excited, both adults and young people. It is a process that changes the way we see our ancestors. Suddenly we see our ancestors come to life. I believe millions of people will realize how much fun and fun the family history of us all can be. ”
