SIEL results: Nearly half a million visitors for this 26th edition

Nearly half a million people visited the International Fair for Publishing and Book (SIEL) in its 26th edition organized February 6 to 16, said Sunday the Minister of Culture, Youth and sports, government spokesperson, El Hassan Abyaba.

During a press conference devoted to the balance sheet of the Fair, Abyaba noted the participation of 266 institutions in this event, including 8 constitutional, 6 ministries, 3 public institutions, 7 universities, 12 embassies and foreign representations and 230 exhibitors from Morocco , the Arab world, Africa, Europe, America and Asia.

This edition also saw the exhibition of more than 120,000 titles and the organization of 120 cultural activities as part of the cultural program of the Ministry of Culture in which 380 speakers participated, including 70 foreigners, and more than 1,000 activities by publishing houses and the rest of the institutions, he added.

For its part, the programming dedicated to children was marked by 80 activities organized by more than 60 executives, including artists, sportsmen and media personalities, he continued.

The Minister, at the same time, welcomed the distinguished presence of Mauritania, “neighboring country and dear friend”, who was the guest of honor of this edition and who participated actively.

For Abyaba, this edition was distinguished by several highly appreciated initiatives, in particular the tribute paid to 24 creators at regional level, within the framework of the application of regional cultural policy.

He also recalled the initiative “Qra tewsel” (Read, you will arrive), launched by the ministry in partnership with the Hassan II University of Casablanca and the company Tramway of Casablanca, to encourage reading, and the launch of a mobile application and a page dedicated to SIEL on social networks.
