Five games were played tonight (Tuesday through Wednesday) in the NBA. Zayun Williamson scored a career-high 38 points in the New Orleans win, 42 for James Harden in the Houston win over Boston, a triple-double White Simmons in the Philadelphia win over the Clippers. San Antonio won in Oklahoma City.
Philadelphia (16:38) – Los Angeles Clippers (34:21) 103: 110 Washington (33:19) – Chicago (36:19) 114: 126 New Orleans (31:23) – Portland (30:25) 117: 138 Oklahoma City (22:32) – San Antonio (31:23) 114: 106 Houston (20:34) – Boston (16:37) 105: 116
After seven consecutive wins, Boston stopped at Houston for its return to victory after two very frustrating losses. The Rockets enjoyed a great game of two-star James Harden and Russell Westbrook. The beard exploded with seven threes from 16 attempts and 42 points, including 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Westbrook contributed 36 points and added 10 rebounds and Danielle House added 17 to Houston to win despite Ben Gordon’s lack and the bench’s only contributing 5 points. Gordon Hayward scored 20 points for Boston, but Jason Tatum (15) and Kamba Walker (14), who were great in the Oklahoma City win, scored a bad percentage for the Celtics, who found no answer to the star pairing from the other side.
Philadelphia (21:34) – Los Angeles Clippers (17:37) 103: 110
There are 21 losses to Philadelphia this season, only two of them were in her home fort and tonight she defeated one of the league’s best teams thanks to Ben Simmons, who recorded a triple-double of 28 with 26 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists. Only Oscar Robertson (87) and Magic Johnson (31) achieved more triple doubles than Simmons in their third season in the NBA. Simmons got a lot of help from Joel Embid who scored 27 and Tobias Harris who added 17 and 12 rebounds. On the other hand, the Clippers did get a typical Kwai game that ended with 30 points and 9 assists, but Paul George got in a very bad game and finished with 11 with a terrible percentage (3 from 15).
New Orleans (31:23) – Portland (30:25) 117: 138
The long wait for Zayn Williamson has paid off, and how it has paid off. Picking 1 in the draft led his team to a sweeping and impressive win over Portland with a career-high 31 points in just 28 minutes. Portland suit kept the athletic chin up, but it found an answer for everyone and he became the first player in history to score seven games with at least 20 points in his first nine games. JJ Reddick contributed 20 and Josh Hart added 17 to the Flickens, who had already lagged 16 points, but exploded with 21:41 in the third quarter to make the bowl. Damian Lillard has only scored 20 points per guest, less than half his average in the last ten games (42).
Oklahoma City (22:32) – San Antonio (31:23) 114: 106
After five consecutive losses, the Spurs return forever precisely without their big star Damar Drusen, who sat outside and watched Marcus Aldridge celebrate in color with 25 points and 14 rebounds. Dejonte Murray added 25 to San Antonio, which is still 4.5 games away from eighth place in the West. Chris Paul continued his good ability and contributed 31 to the host, who suffered a second consecutive loss after nine wins in ten games before.
Washington (33:19) – Chicago (36:19) 114: 126
Bradley Bill (30) and Roy Huchimura (20) led the host to victory despite Zach Lavigne’s 41 points on the other end. Chicago managed to get back from a mere 18 to 6, but Washington managed to maintain the win. Czech Tomasz Saturansky contributed 19 points not enough against the ex.
