The feminist and feminine protest in Mexico is NOT subsided overwhelmed by a wave of indignation for the publication of a video, correlated by numerous photos, on a grim assassination of a young woman by her partner. Thousands went down the streets of the capital and in ten other cities in the country including Tijuana, Juarez, Guadalajara and Veracruz, raising signs with the image of the latest victim, Ingrid Escamilla, 25 years old.An event that, for the first time, does not only criticize the inertia of the president’s government Andrés Manuel López Obrador compared to a theme that has become an emergency in Mexico; He accuses the media that published the horror video filtered by investigators. An accusation directed above all at The Prensa, one of the most popular newspapers in Mexico City, which shot some of the most truculent photos on the front page.

Mexico, tear gas and clashes: thousands of women marching against femicides

In front of the police armored editorial staff, the protesters launched the message to the director who had meanwhile met with colleagues to discuss the choice made: “The press must respect the reality of the massacre. Mexico is in a national emergency. Transform our dead in a show. ”

The horror video

The show is Erik Francisco, a 46-year-old engineer, who furiously quarrels with his 25-year-old cohabiting partner, takes away the knife with which she defended herself and plants it in his neck. Then he tears off part of the body, pulls out guts and more and raises them in a ritual of potting blood. Francisco is not a madman, he is simply a femmicicide. The police arrive on the scene, film what they see and the video reaches the media. It ends up on the Net, it becomes viral, there is a disdainful reaction that turns into a shower of images with an opposite sign that “suffocate this horror with love”, as explained in the tweets. The Prensa he comes out with more photos and the mobilization starts.

The parade

The procession in Mexico City swelled as it advanced towards the government building and when it was blocked by a thick cordon of policemen, accidents broke out. The demonstration continued and, with the exasperated souls of thousands of women, it continued to wander the streets, launching increasingly harsh slogans louder and louder. They focused on the newspaper headquarters determined to invade it, but even here the police forces formed a protective cordon.

Mexico, women's protest against feminicides does not stop:

There were other scuffles and a newspaper van was besieged and hit while social media and the network continued to be flooded, for the second day, with thousands of delicate photos, such as nature, sunsets, couples holding hands and the drawing surrounded by flowers that incorporates Ingrid’s face.

The siege of the newspaper The Prensa

The most tense moment of this latest explosion of protest for the emergency for women was in front of the newspaper The Prensa. Many women have hooded themselves and have surrounded the pickup truck of the newspaper on which they have raged.

Mexico, women's protest against feminicides does not stop:

The reporters took to the streets and tried to talk to the protesters but they, really angry, rejected them asking them to leave with signs that urged: “Men out, men out!”, And with slogans like “I don’t speak!” that became an uproar. Never before had a demonstration been so followed by the media, with groups of photographers taking burst images, capturing expressions and details of a procession that had become imposing. One woman eventually asked the others for consistency: “Enough, companions,” she shouted over a loudspeaker, “this is a demonstration against the press, don’t stop for the photos, go ahead”.

Government robbed femicide into murder

This happens in the same hours in which the government accepts the proposal of the attorney general, in charge of reforming the penal code, of rerouting the crime of femicide to murder. The Executive Secretariat of Public Security has made it official that in the first four months of 2015 there were only 610 crimes against women. The following year, always in the first 4 months of the year, there were 847; in 2017 they rose to 967 and in 2018 to 1,142. Over 3800 women were murdered in 2019, with a 10% growth compared to 2018.
