Maple Leafs acquire striker

The Toronto Maple Leafs acquired striker Denis Malgin of the Florida Panthers on Wednesday.

In return, the Florida squad got hold of forward Mason Marchment.

Malgin will help make up for the loss of Andreas Johnsson, who has been sidelined for six months due to a knee injury.

The 23-year-old has four goals and eight assists for 12 points in 36 games with the Florida side this season. The Swiss, who will receive $ 750,000 and who will become a free agent with compensation on July 1, has collected 60 points in 184 career games in the National Hockey League.

Meanwhile, Marchement – son of former back Bryan Marchment – has played his first four lifelong bouts on the Bettman circuit in this season. At the Toronto Marlies, a branch of the Leafs, he scored 18 points, including 13 goals, in 24 outings.
