Lewis Hamilton won a sixth Formula 1 world champion title in 2019 Lionel Messi, with his club in Barcelona, won the title of champion of Spain and reached the semi-finals of the Champions League.Gymnast Simone Biles, who won five world titles in 2019, bringing her 22 gold medal winners to just 22, was named sportswoman of the year for the third time, after 2017 and 2019.
The South African rugby team, world champion, succeeded the French football selection as team of the year. The revelation trophy of the year was awarded to Colombian Egan Bernal, winner at 22 years of the Tour de France, making him the youngest winner of the event since 1909.
