The alleged attacker of the Nivelles athlete, Fanny Appes, was arrested during the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, in France.
The police of Braine-l’Alleud were informed shortly before 10 a.m. this Wednesday of the arrest, in France, on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, of Xavier B., 41 years old, the ex-companion of Fanny Appes, alleged perpetrator of a costly assault that occurred last Thursday on a train between Rhode-Saint-Genèse and Holleken.
Aged 30 from Cameroon, the athlete arrived in Belgium about 10 years ago. Sprinter, specialist in the 100 meters, she takes part in national but also international competitions, under the colors of Cameroon.
Trained in particular by Carole Bam, who coaches the Belgian Cheetahs, Fanny Appes is affiliated to the Royal Athletic Circle of Walloon Brabant (RCABW), in Nivelles, since her arrival in Belgium. She was in particular part of the club team which won the relay at the Belgian championships. Fanny Appes hopes to take part in the Tokyo Olympics this summer.
Harassed for 6 months
The young woman had already filed a complaint with the police of Braine-l’Alleud and Nivelles following threats received from her ex-companion, Xavier B., a man who already had a child.

For reasons that have not been specified, their relationship had deteriorated to the point that the Cameroonian sprinter had been harassed for months and had narrated her dismay on Facebook: “Victim of harassment for six months, today, I didn’t no longer have the strength to stand on my own. After several complaints, nothing has been done in concrete terms to keep this man away from me. ”
