Hertha BSC took the lead via the Brazilian Matheus Cunha, but after the break Dortmund put things in order with the help of Haaland. The Norwegian striker was elected talent of the year on the European football pitches by the Italian sports newspaper Tuttosport on Saturday and proved once again why against Hertha. In 15 minutes, the 20-year-old Haaland scored a hat-trick. The Norwegian also scored his fourth goal 10 minutes before the end. The striker has now scored ten goals in seven Bundesliga games.
In the 83rd minute, Haaland was replaced by the talent Youssoufa Moukoko, who made his debut the day after his 16th birthday. Moukoko thus became the youngest player ever in the Bundesliga.
Dortmund did not adhere to the advice of the Norwegian health authorities when drafting the Norwegian striker. The Ministry of Health wanted all footballers on the national team to remain in quarantine for 10 days after multiple corona infections within the selection. Back in Germany, Haaland tested negative and so Dortmund just let him play.
At Hertha, Deyovaisio Zeefuik and Javairô Dilrosun sat on the couch. Zeefuik was allowed to participate for a few minutes in the final phase.
Dortmund has 18 points after the convincing victory and approached leader Bayern Munich, which did not get further than 1-1 against Werder Bremen, to 1 point. Hertha is thirteenth with 7 points.
