19 november 2020 – Tom Overtoom (30, on archive image) is definitively affiliated with Telstar’s A selection as of today. The midfielder was without a club after his departure from NEC and has found shelter in Velsen. He has been training with us for several weeks and now also signs an amateur contract until the end of this season. The midfielder was already on the bench against FC Dordrecht (2-0 win).
That writes NH News at least, with a confirmation from trainer Andries Jonker that Overtoom has signed on an amateur basis. Through this construction, the midfielder can be paid for the White Lions. It had been known for some time that they would like to recruit him, but previously could not meet his conditions. In this way a suitable construction has been found.
Overtoom, who had an unsuccessful internship at Fortuna Sittard last summer, previously played for Sparta, FC Volendam, Excelsior, FC Emmen and Almere City FC. At NEC, his contract running until 2021 was terminated, because he said he was ready for a new challenge and in Nijmegen there was little sporting prospects.
