Cyprus is the first country to select a new artist and also the first country to present the song title. 19 of the 41 participating countries previously announced that they would send the same artist again who would actually participate this year. The Eurovision song contest was canceled due to the corona crisis.
Tsagkrinou, 26, is no stranger to Cyprus and Greece. The native Greek made her breakthrough thanks to her participation in ‘Greece’s Got Talent’, was then the lead singer of the band Otherview for years and then managed to build a solo career. She now also presents various TV programs.
The Eurovision Song Contest takes place between 18 and 22 May in Rotterdam Ahoy. Cyprus is participating for the 37th time in 2021 and holds the record for most participations without a win. In 2018, the island came close with a second place for Eleni Foureira.
