Orange selection announced: De Boer selects 25 internationals, Klaassen back

The final selection of the Dutch national team is known. National coach Frank de Boer chooses 25 players, including Davy Klaassen. Kevin Strootman is missing.

Klaassen played his last international match for the Dutch national team in 2017. De Boer now rewards him for his strong start at Ajax. It comes at the expense of Strootman, who is out of favor with Olympique Marseille.

Daley Sinkgraven (Bayer Leverkusen), Justin Bijlow (Feyenoord), Javairô Dilrosun (Hertha BSC), Pablo Rosario (PSV), Perr Schuurs (Ajax) and Wout Weghorst (VfL Wolfsburg) have not passed the final selection. Denzel Dumfries (PSV) and Marten de Roon (Atalanta Bergamo) are not fit enough.

Patrick van Aanholt will be there. The left back of Crystal Palace only made his first minutes of the season against Fulham last Saturday after sustaining an injury in July. PSV player Mohamed Ihattaren can make his Orange debut in the coming international matches.

The Dutch national team will play an exhibition match against Spain on November 11, after which De Boer’s team will face Bosnia and Herzegovina (November 15, Amsterdam) and Poland (November 18, Chorzów) in the Nations League. The Dutch are still waiting for the first victory under De Boer.

In the remaining Nations League matches, the Orange squad must win at least once for a place in the Final Four, in which the group winners from Division A compete for the overall victory. The Orange is third with five points from four matches, behind leader Poland (seven points) and number two Italy (six points).
