Officers were attacked in the night from Friday to Saturday when they ended an illegal party in The Hague. Two of the fifty attendees were arrested, the police reported on Saturday.
The party took place in an apartment at 1e Lulofsdwarsstraat. Fifty people were present in the 80 square meter house. Police arrived after neighbors complained about noise pollution.
Officers ended the party, but a number of people turned against the police. A cop was beaten and drugs were thrown from the apartment, among other things. In addition, a police service car was damaged.
A 21-year-old woman from The Hague and a 22-year-old man from Italy have been arrested. The woman is suspected of assaulting the cop and the man for interfering with the officers. They are still detained and will be heard on Friday.
Mayor Jan van Zanen calls the behavior of those present scandalous. He is happy that the police ended the party quickly. Van Zanen points out that it is unwise to be in a house with fifty people due to the corona virus. “We continue to enforce strict on the corona measures and therefore also on these illegal parties,” he says.
