The kick-off of Ajax – FC Midtjylland in group D of the Champions League is at 9 p.m. tonight. In order to continue to have a chance of hibernating in the ball of millions, a victory, and that should of course be possible against the Danes, is important.
It would also work out particularly well for Ajax if Liverpool, the leader in the group, beats Atalanta Bergamo at home tonight.
With a victory by Liverpool and Ajax, the team from Amsterdam remain in second place and are three points ahead of the Italians. After tonight Ajax has to go against Liverpool and the last match is at home against Bergamo.
The good news is that Brazilian attacker Anthony is fit again and is in the match selection. Coach Erik ten Hag announced this last night.
Dusan Tadic could make a nice step in Ajax’s all-time top scorer list in the Champions League. He is now third with 8 goals and that is a goal behind Patrick Kluivert. So he can match that if he makes one against Midtjylland. The number 1, Jari Litmanen, is lonely at the top with 20 goals. Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Lasse Schöne share fourth place with six goals.
And speaking of Litmanen: next Saturday it will be 25 years ago that Ajax won the World Cup in Tokyo. AT5 was of course there at the time. We have made a special of all this unique material of almost an hour that can be seen online from Saturday 7 am and on TV later that day.
