The list of injured players at Liverpool is getting longer. England coach Gareth Southgate had to take Jordan Henderson to the side against Belgium in half time with a muscle injury.
The overcrowded schedule seems to be taking its toll on the Liverpool players. Virgil van Dijk is likely to miss the rest of the season with a cruciate ligament injury, while Joe Gomez was injured at England this international period. He has since undergone surgery on his knee. Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson are also injured, so Jürgen Klopp does not have access to his four permanent defenders.
Mohamed Salah (coronavirus), Fabinho, Thiago Alcántara and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are also out for a while. Henderson can now be added to this list, Southgate reports Sky Sports. The muscle injury does not seem too serious, but it will still be a blow to Klopp’s account. Next Sunday’s game against Leicester City seems to come too early for the midfielder.
