The United Arab Emirates’ government, led by Regent Sheikh Muhammad bin Zayed, this evening (Sunday) issued a statement condemning the assassination of the father of the Iranian nuclear program, Muhsin Fakhrizadeh. The statement said the UAE calls on all parties involved to refrain from any confrontation and escalation in the region due to the elimination and to maintain maximum restraint.
It will be recalled that after the assassination of Fakhrizadeh, many senior members of the Iranian regime blamed Israel for the assassination, and even threatened significant revenge. In addition, there were reports today that Iran may try to harm Israelis visiting the United Arab Emirates, which is not far from the Islamic Republic.

One of the significant reasons why the United Arab Emirates signed the peace agreement with Israel is related to the historical fear of Iranian harm and involvement in it. Against this background, the Trump administration has approved the sale of dozens of advanced F-35s to the UAE. The assassination of Fakhrizadeh, who is attributed to the State of Israel, raises serious concerns among the emirates’ rulers. For them, the development of a military confrontation between Iran and Israel is likely to hurt them significantly.
Following the announcement by the United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Jordan, another friend of Israel in the region, also issued a statement condemning the assassination on its behalf.
Jared Kushner will take off for Saudi Arabia and Qatar
About a week after reports of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit to Saudi Arabia are published, US President Trump’s special adviser Jared Kushner is expected to visit Saudi Arabia and Qatar. Saudi Muhammad bin Salman in the coastal city of Ni’um, where Ben-Salman reportedly met with Prime Minister Netanyahu and US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
Kushner is expected to bring up the issue of normalization between Saudi Arabia and Israel again, but most estimates are that Ben-Salman’s answer will remain negative. It was recently reported that the Saudi heir had made a decision not to accede to the Trump administration’s demands to normalize relations with Israel, and to wait for the entry of new President Biden into the White House, before making a fateful decision.
Another issue that is expected to be on the agenda at the meeting between the two is the settlement of the issue of the flights of Israeli airlines over the skies of Saudi Arabia. Jared Kushner’s relations with the leaders of Arab countries were necessary to advance Israel’s peace processes with the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Qatar.
