Corona: Drop in hospital admissions for the first time since September

In the past week, an average of 618 people with COVID-19 were admitted to hospital every day, a decrease of 5 percent from a week earlier. A total of 6,893 people with the disease are now in hospital, also a decrease of 5 percent.

The number of people with the coronavirus in intensive care units has remained stable at 1,464 patients.

Half a million infections

Between October 29 and November 4, 10,512 people tested positive for the coronavirus. That is a decrease of 35 percent compared to a week earlier. In total, Belgium now has nearly half a million corona infections since the start of the pandemic.

199 additional deaths

COVID-19 has meanwhile also caused 12,907 fatalities in our country, an increase of 199 victims compared to figures published on Saturday. On average, 173 people per day died from a coronavirus infection in the past week, an increase of 66 percent from the previous week.
