The gruesome attack took place in the village of Koshobe, near the city of Maiduguri. Farm workers and villagers were tied up and their throats slit. “At least 110 civilians were brutally killed and many others were injured in this attack,” said Edward Kallon of the UN.

Governor Babaganan Umara Zulum attended the funeral of the 43 bodies of agricultural workers found the day before on Sunday. He told reporters he was told on arrival that the death toll was now at 70, but feared it could rise. According to Nigerian President Buhari’s spokesman Garba Shehu, the president described Bogo Haram’s attack as “insane”.

In the fight between Boko Haram and ISWAP, a terror group affiliated with IS, farmers and other innocent people are regularly attacked. In recent years, more than 36,000 people have been killed in attacks and bombings.
