Volvo Car Gent produces the very first fully electric car


“I think it’s fantastic that Volvo is making that investment here in Ghent,” says Minister Hilde Crevits (CD&V), who today was allowed to take the first electric car for a ride. “The car is 100 percent electric, which is important to move towards a climate-neutral society. But the factory has invested 24 million euros not only to build the car, but also to train its people for this.” The government also co-invested 2 million euros from the Flemish government: “These training courses are necessary so that people can deal with these new technologies, and that they are assured of work and can stay here.”
