Pnini will have to compensate Holon with NIS 300,000

The legal saga between Hapoel Holon and Guy Pnini came to an end today (Thursday) with a victory for Hapoel Holon: Assaf Hadassi, the basketball association’s arbitrator, ruled that the player will have to compensate the club with NIS 294,630 offset by injury fees and half of March salary.

Holon, represented by Adv. Roi Rosen and Adv. Eran Neumann, demanded the reimbursement of the insurance money that Pnini received while he was injured (approximately NIS 400,000 offsetting injury compensation), while at the same time continuing to receive his salary from the group.

In addition to the amount decided for disabilities received by the player, the arbitrator determined that Pnini will have to pay the team reimbursement of medical expenses in the amount of NIS 35,000 as well as the arbitrator’s fees and even legal expenses for the lawyer who represented the team.

In fact, the arbitrator accepted Holon’s main claim for “double compensation” which Pnini received, who on the other hand claimed that the right to receive the same insurance money is an “independent constitutional right”.

This is a victory for Holon in the case and a kind of precedent-setting ruling in Israeli sports, in which a team receives a refund for “permanent disability”.
