The corona ward at Barzilai Medical Center last night determined the death of an 86-year-old city resident Corona patient.

The man, according to the hospital, suffered in addition to the corona virus from other background diseases.

With his death, the number of Ashkelon residents who died from Corona rose to 41.

Last week, after the number of deaths had already risen to 42, the Ministry of Health decided to update the data and subtract from them two deaths that were probably not Ashkelon residents when they died.

As of this morning, according to data from the Ministry of Health, only 236 residents of the city are currently ill with the corona virus. This is a significant decrease after the data a few weeks ago indicated more than 1,100 patients.

At present, 29 patients with the corona virus are hospitalized at Barzilai Medical Center: 3 in mild condition, 5 in moderate condition and 21 in severe condition, of which 4 are respiratory.

The medical center said they were sharing in the family’s grief.
