The cost of days of isolation for workers will be divided between the state and employers

Representatives of the Ministry of Finance, the Histadrut and the presidents of employers and businesses reached agreements today (Tuesday) regarding payment for workers who were required to be in isolation. According to the agreements, the payment for the days of isolation will be divided between the employer, the state and the employee, with the latter bearing the cost of the first two days of isolation, while the payment for the remaining days will be divided between the employer and the state.

The summaries were formulated after the High Court ordered the parties, following a petition filed by the employers’ representatives, to present an outline for resolving the issue to date, September 30. In order to complete the agreement enactment procedure, the parties asked the High Court to extend the existing arrangement by 28 days. The isolation rests solely with the employer.

It was also agreed that employees would be able to take advantage of sick days and receive payment for them – at the expense of the isolation period. However, during the first three days of isolation, the payment will be reduced, and will be accepted in full from the fourth day onwards. No payment will be made for the first day of illness and in the next two days 50% of the value of the day of illness will be given, while from the fourth day of isolation 100% will be paid. The state and employers will share the remaining cost of insulation equally.
