The BinckBank Tour organization advises cycling fans not to come and see the race this week. It is requested to follow the stage race through the Netherlands and Belgium, which starts on Tuesday, on television this year.
The stricter corona measures announced by the cabinet on Monday do not lead to a new protocol. The organization had already decided at an earlier stage that this edition of the BinckBank Tour is “completely different than normal”.
“In an area of 150 meters at the start and finish, no public is welcome”, organizer Gert Van Goolen told the news agency ANP. “In addition, we advise cycling fans not to come and watch. All rides can be followed live on television.”
Van Goolen says that he does not expect that no people will show up along the course at all. “If the race comes through your street, you can of course stand outside, provided you keep your distance and wear a mouth mask. But we nevertheless advise against it and we will now communicate that even more clearly in the Netherlands.”
The sixteenth edition of the BinckBank Tour lasts until Saturday. On Wednesdays (Vlissingen-Vlissingen) and Fridays (Riemst-Sittard-Geleen) there is (largely) driving on Dutch soil.
