Students of the Amit Ashdod Yeshiva built Sukkot for the elderly and Holocaust survivors

Despite the corona, this year too the students did not give up on the mitzvah. They divided into teams, came to the houses and happily helped. Sometimes a group built several sukkot in one day, in some cases they also recruited a sukkah for those who do not have the help of cooperation with parents.

“We received calls from people coming out of isolation on the eve of the holiday and could not build at the last minute. There were cases of family members who are far away and can not help the elderly father as every year. They just thank us non-stop for help,” describes Ziv Hassan, the yeshiva’s social coordinator.

Yonatan Hotovli, a 12th grade student, said: “One of the people told us that if we had not come, he would not have built a sukkah this year. “Another man was so impressed and said he wanted to go back to our age and help us build Sukkot for others who are having a hard time.”

Rabbi Shalom Malul, Rosh Yeshiva, concludes: “It is exciting to see our righteous students get involved. It is gratifying that despite the situation, they are not giving up on the important tradition and doing true kindness.”
