Moschino has models replaced by puppets

The Italian fashion house Moschino had a parade with ‘Vogue’ editors-in-chief Anna Wintour and Edward Enninful in the front row, corona or not. And that thanks to the company where the Muppets were also made.

Moschino designer Jeremy Scott is a guarantee of spectacle anyway. But instead of thinking big, he went the other way this season. Scott presented his new collection with an alternative parade, where the chance of contamination with the corona virus was non-existent: both the models on the catwalk and the guests in the audience were dolls.

Scott was inspired by the Théatre de la mode from 1945, when Paris wanted to show what his fashion was worth after the Second World War. Because the textile industry was flat and the fabrics were scarce, an exhibition with small fashion dolls was chosen. When it became clear this spring that a traditional parade was out of the question, Scott contacted Jim Henson’s Creature Shop, the company founded at the time by the creator of the Muppets and specializing in doll making.

More expensive than a parade

The entire collection consisting of forty silhouettes was meticulously recreated for the puppets, including fine details and accessories. And they were able to march in front of a select circle of guests, including Anna Wintour and Edward Enninful, editors-in-chief of the American and the British respectively. Vogue. Scott also had a miniature version made of himself.

It was a huge undertaking, which ultimately turned out to be more expensive than a parade, Scott said Vogue. “I had to take the plunge in April and knew that I would have to continue with this, even if everything was back to normal and everyone was organizing a parade again,” said the designer.
