The ministry reported that 4,949 people tested positive for the coronavirus in 34,352 tests conducted on Tuesday.

Of those connected to the ventilator, 73% are men.

The death toll has risen to 1528.

Since the virus arrived in Israel in February, 239,222 people have been infected with the virus, including 122,340 in September alone, after an average of more than 4,000 new infections were diagnosed every day this month.

In Israel there are now 64,608 active patients and in 16 cities across the country there are more than 1,000 patients. 7188 are residents of Jerusalem, 4052 live in Bnei Brak, 2946 in Ashdod, 2184 in Tel Aviv-Yafo, 1795 in Petah, 1759 in Netanya, 1695 in Modi’in Illit, 1474 in Be’er Sheva, 1335 in Rishon LeZion, 1293 in Haifa, 1286 in Holon, 1182 in Rehovot, 1116 in Elad, 1059 in Beitar Illit and 1001 in Ashkelon.
