The 45th final of the Limburg Vastelaovesleedjes Konkoer takes place without an audience. The LVK foundation announced this on Wednesday. The final will be held in the Parkstad Limburg Theater in Heerlen.

The fact that for the first time in history a final takes place without an audience has to do with the applicable corona measures. Despite this major limitation, the foundation finds it important that the concurrence continues. It was said at an earlier stage that this would happen ‘anyway’. In June, the LVK was aiming for a final with an audience, but that appears not to be feasible.

Four people on stage
In addition to not admitting the public, other measures have been taken. For example, only four people may appear on the stage per finalist. In this way it is avoided that there are too many people on the stage.

It is also very different in the semi-finals. The songs of the semi-finalists will only be released on L1 radio. In previous editions the artists performed, there was an audience and TV recordings were made.

Review same as before
The evaluation of the songs is the same as before, although this time it is not two jury days, but that is only one. The jury determines the 60 semi-finalists, who are then presented in three rounds. After each semifinal, listeners can vote via SMS.

The 20 finalists will be announced on 24 January. The final will then follow on January 29. This is broadcast live by L1 radio and television.
