The investigation began with a report received by the police about a shooting in the neighborhood, and from preliminary findings discovered at the scene, it emerged that from the shooting that took place on the street, a woman who was inside her house at the time was injured. The woman was evacuated in critical condition to Assaf Harofeh Hospital and was later pronounced dead.
Several hours after the incident, police forces were able to locate the suspects involved in the incident. The suspects tried to hide in a compound in one of the neighborhoods in Lod, and when they noticed the police force, they tried to escape while throwing a gun and a cartridge that were allegedly used for shooting.
The investigation of the incident raised suspicions that following the conflict that erupted between two families living in the neighborhood, the suspects ambushed the victim’s family member. When the family member arrived on the street, the suspects stabbed him and shot at him and at the family home. One of the bullets penetrated the window of the house and hit a woman who was wounded in the neck and she collapsed on the spot. A member of her family who was injured in the stabbing, is being evacuated independently to Assaf Harofeh Hospital.
The detention of the two suspects, residents of Ramla, 26 and 27, was extended from time to time in the Magistrate’s Court in Rishon Lezion, and upon completion of the investigation, the prosecution is expected to file an indictment against them and request their detention until the end of the proceedings.
