Ferrari pupils Schumacher, Ilott and Shwartzman make F1 debut this season

Mick Schumacher gets behind the wheel of an Alfa Romeo during the race weekend at the Nürburgring in just over a week and a half. The Formula 2 driver is allowed to taste the royal class for the first time there by driving a free practice.

The news had been in the air for some time, but until recently it was never confirmed by either party. However, Ferrari has just announced that Mick Schumacher – the son of the legendary Michael Schumacher – will take place in Antonio Giovinazzi’s Alfa Romeo C39 during the race weekend at the Nürburgring. Schumacher isn’t the only lucky one, though. Ferrari Driver Academy colleague Callum Illott is allowed to sit in a Haas at the same time.

Robert Shwartzman will be next this year. He can take care of a free practice during the race weekend in Abu Dhabi, the Italian superpower has announced. It is still unclear whether all three of these men will drive in Formula 1 next season, although it seems very likely that at least Schumacher will continue. The 21-year-old German is heading for the title in Formula 2 and is also regularly linked to Alfa Romeo.
