Coronavirus: number of Limburg infections doubled | 1Limburg


In the past seven days, 513 new corona infections have been reported in Limburg. That is double compared to last week. Then there were 227 new infections.

The upward trend of Covid-19 is thus continuing in our province, according to figures from the two Limburg GGDs. The Limburg figures also show that eight new hospital admissions were reported in the past week. Two corona deaths were reported: one in Weert and one in Horst aan de Maas.

In total, at least 6,617 fellow countrymen have now tested positive for Covid-19. At least 762 Limburgers have died of the corona virus and 1,587 Limburgers have been or have been admitted to hospital.

National figures
The number of corona infections continues to increase. In the past seven days, 19,326 new cases were reported to the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM). Last week, the institute reported 13,471 new cases, so the number is up about half again.

The number of hospital admissions also increased. Nursing units admitted 501 corona patients, compared to 350 the week before. The number of admissions to intensive care units rose from 53 to 100.

RIVM also reported 102 reports of deaths in the past seven days on Tuesday. That does not mean that everyone died in the past week. Last week’s update reported 33 deaths.

Since the start of the outbreak, 117,551 infections have been diagnosed in the Netherlands. That is an increase of 3,011 compared to Monday, the largest increase in 24 hours.
