Struggling with the spread of the Corona virus in the city: The Rehovot Municipality is currently working to increase enforcement and the war in Corona, which includes training investigators for the investigations of verified patients, strengthening police and municipal supervision, opening checkpoints and driving and assisting verified patients.

Supervision and enforcement activities

From the beginning of the period of dealing with the Corona virus, police and inspectors from the municipal police in the traffic, signage, supervision and municipal policing of the Rehovot municipality have been engaged in ongoing enforcement activities and check the active businesses throughout the city and the residents’ adherence to masks.

Yesterday, 10 more inspectors were added to this array, and 10 more inspectors will be added in the coming weeks.

Inspectors and police officers from the municipal police system are at checkpoints at entrances and exits from the city, they are deployed in shopping centers throughout the city, in the mall, in large shopping complexes in the city and along Herzl Street on foot. All this in order to ensure that residents comply with the guidelines and that businesses in the city operate in accordance with the “purple” guidelines set forth in the law.

Training investigators for investigations

For several weeks now, the Emergency Department of the Defense Division has been training investigators for epidemiological investigations of verified patients, with the aim of examining who they came in contact with in order to isolate them. The researchers on behalf of the municipality will assist in carrying out the process which has so far been carried out by the Ministry of Health only. All this in order to help stop the chain of contagion and shorten the interrogation time in order to reach those who have been exposed as quickly as possible.

The new researchers number about 10 municipal employees, who undergo special training from the Ministry of Health and the Home Front Command. The training is expected to be completed in the coming days. Investigators will receive details from the Ministry of Health, and will assist in a faster investigation of patients in the city.

Another testing complex is ready for operation

Last week, the emergency department of the Rehovot municipality’s security department began building an additional drive-in complex to perform corona tests, in addition to the existing drive-in complex near the municipal veterinarian’s offices.

The new testing complex will be built by the Rehovot Municipality and will be available to MDA and the HMOs that perform the actual tests.

These days, the work to prepare the area for the additional complex has been completed – paving with asphalt, connection to electricity and water infrastructure, construction of tracks for regular cars and a track for higher vehicles, as well as a tent that will shade the testers’ work. The complex will start operating after Yom Kippur, in parallel with the existing complex on Moti Kind Street.

Preparations for assisted patients are verified in the Social Services Division

Welfare workers in the Social Services Division are preparing to respond in various areas to verified patients in the city, in accordance with the details provided by the Ministry of Health. Emphasis will be given to childless residents and populations that require special attention, single-parent families, families with children with special needs and more.

The assistance will be on several levels, and depending on the needs that will arise, including the transfer of food packages, providing purchase labels in chains, assistance with medicines, toys for children, garbage removal, assistance in evacuation to hotels if necessary, community mediation and local leadership and of course emotional support.

Welfare services will work in collaboration with volunteers, who will be divided into neighborhoods and transfer the various needs to the care of welfare agencies. For this purpose, the welfare system in the telephones will be strengthened, which will make the telephones and assist in mapping the needs for treatment.

Mayor, Rahamim Malul:
