Angry Sanne Wallis de Vries challenges Rutte: “Come and see for yourself!” | Show

She would perform tonight in Purmerend, but Sanne Wallis de Vries can just sit at home for dinner. Her show Heel in theater De Purmaryn is canceled. “The director of the theater decided it himself this morning, because it took too long before there was clarity,” says the comedian, who is furious about the way in which the cabinet deals with the theaters.

“The policymakers are shifting responsibility to the regions, which must all consider whether exceptions can be made for the number of people allowed into a theater. While things are going so well there, not a single visitor has been infected in the theater, ” says Wallis de Vries, who was almost despondent on Monday from the press conference of Prime Minister Rutte and Minister De Jonge.

They announced new restrictive corona measures, allowing a maximum of thirty people to be present in a room. No separate announcements were made for the cultural sector.

The latter is against the 49-year-old comedian: “They have no idea how things are going in theaters, they create chaos. They are still too silly to name the theaters separately. This is the exposure of total ignorance and indifference. I am ashamed of this country, and I mean that in a broader sense than just the culture sector. I am also ashamed of how we distribute the money in our financially healthy country when it comes to education and care. ”

Wallis de Vries had to suppress the urge to stop her work this week. “If I knew it would have an effect on the cabinet to give up, then I would. But of course that does not yield anything. I have with Heel made a performance about corona and got two free tickets for crew members each time. I would be happy to give one of these to Mark Rutte.

“I would like to say to him: Come to the theater yourself. Come and experience how well things are going, how safe it is, that everyone stays at an appropriate distance. I’m not asking the prime minister to look into it, he probably doesn’t have time for that. But just come by. I know that Rutte has been to De Toppers, but I don’t think he has ever visited a theater before. ”

Tomorrow evening a performance is planned in Barendrecht, but now Wallis de Vries does not know whether that will take place. “I wait, my hope is pinned on the request from the theater world for a national exemption. If that hearing is given, it can still end well. But at the moment it is sad. Today I am the example of how things go wrong with these measures. If corona raged in theaters, I wouldn’t be playing there either. I don’t want to get sick. ”
