Because a student from the first high school at the Sint-Jozef Institute in Essen is infected with Covid-19, three classes have to be quarantined. It concerns three of the four classes of the first secondary.
This is what Kris Peeters, managing director of Koba Noorderkempen, the school umbrella organization that includes the Sint-Jozefinstituut under, explains. “Because one student is infected, three classes are at home on Thursday and Friday. Because the children are older than 12 years, they all have to get tested. The number may seem high, but because there have been contacts with other classes, the CLB doctor has decided that all these classes should be quarantined. We simply have to follow the protocols. ”
The school expects the test results to be received on Saturday. What happens next depends on that result. “We’re going to come up with an update this weekend on how to proceed. We don’t know yet, but we hope for a quick start. ”
It is not yet known how the student contracted the virus, according to Peeters. The teachers organize digital lessons for the children. “The teachers themselves have no risk of infection, so they just keep working.”
Last week it turned out that a teacher from primary school Mariaberg Centrum, also a school in Koba, was infected with the virus. As a result, ninety students were temporarily at home, but now everyone, including the teacher, is back at school. She tested negative now. The contamination on Saint Joseph is absolutely separate from that. ” (I drive)
