Jewish billionaire and “Israel Today” newspaper owner, Sheldon Adelson, will donate $ 100 million to campaign for reelection of U.S. President Donald Trump, according to a Guardian publication. In addition, the billionaire will also make a contribution to Republican congressmen.
Knowledgeable fundraisers on the subject told the newspaper that Adelson was going to transfer money to a number of Republican organizations committed to revealing their donor identities, as well as donating to nonprofit organizations that support the Republican Party and are not committed to donor reporting.
So far, Adelson has donated more than $ 100 million to Republican bodies in the last two U.S. elections. One source estimates that he may even contribute up to $ 200 million by 2020, against Trump’s sympathetic policies toward Israel, which brought the two closer Since the Trump campaign in 2016.
Adelson supported some of Trump’s pro-Israel moves, including moving the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem and abandoning the nuclear deal with Iran. According to well-versed sources, Adelson was even in the White House when Trump unveiled the Centennial Plan last month and met with him before the official ceremony.
The Adelsons usually make more extensive contributions towards the end of the presidential race. For example, in 2018, Adelson donated $ 124 million to Republican bodies and Republican candidates in Congress. One source even estimated that Adelson could make up to $ 200 million by 2020, but this is probably a relatively comfortable contribution, as the couple’s fortunes are estimated to be $ 39 billion.
