Following the 6.8 magnitude earthquake in Sivrice district of Elazig, the epicenter is the ‘laser scanner device’ designed by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization in search-rescue and debris removal works. The device performs a quick scan at the point where the teams work, checking if there is a risk of collapse in other buildings. The results are quickly transferred to the vehicle in the debris region.
‘We can scan quickly on the spot’
- Speaking about the details of the system, Sertaç Teksin, Head of Disaster Coordination Department, “This vehicle is a vehicle designed by the Minister of Environment and Urbanization, Murat Kurum, after the event that collapsed in Kartal in 2019 and 21 citizens died. Through this vehicle, we are transferred to the scene of the event with all devices in any emergency and the ground, We can quickly scan all the features such as concrete, iron, and even corrosion in iron without going to any laboratory at the scene with the devices inside. we decide whether it will be destroyed, whether it is risky or not “ said.
LASER SCANNER DEVICE IS USED IN ELAZIĞ
Teksin stated that the Ministry applied for a patent for this vehicle designed and used, and said:
“We used this device here and we really benefited. This device is a laser scanner device. It takes data in its own brain by taking 2 million shots per second of all the points, spatially, of all buildings in a radius of 130 to 150 meters, and then we have 15 minutes in these regions, We make different measurements again in half an hour. We superimpose that data from various angles on the computer in the vehicle. We constantly control the buildings to be demolished, other buildings next to the search and rescue debris on site, and keep them under control according to the risk situation of this device before people fall over. The device has its own USB system. We transfer this system to the computer in our vehicle. We overlap all of the other work we do on the computer. “
