On the eve of the last MotoGP test in Jerez, the announcement by Johann Zarco with Avintia Racing seemed a matter of hours. Instead the two sides prefer to wait to release the official statement, but the cards on the table have changed. This was confirmed by Claude Michy, patron of the Le Mans Grand Prix, who followed the case of the compatriot pilot without admissions. "I do not give advice to Johann Zarco. We are reasonable, an adult. I am the organizer of the Grand Prix de France and it is normal for the French to support each other. I would not exaggerate with my role, I am well hidden, it suits me".
No surprises are expected on Zarco's contract, although the official declaration has not arrived. "His situation is very clear. Johann has a Ducati contract – said Michy at Paddock-GP -. With a 2019 bike and a Ducati staff. And he will run with Avintia". Claude is very concerned about the situation of the French drivers, including Fabio Quartararo, who has made great strides in his MotoGP rookie season. "We have to be honest, everyone had a nice surprise. Normally, when someone arrives, you have to give them time to learn. But apparently he missed a year or two. Now we will see how his second season will look, because he will have a little more pressure. But he showed all his qualities".
Thanks also to a team that offered him the best human and technical support, so much so that he earned an M1 factory for the next championship. "His Petronas team, which is in its first year, also has very good staff. It's a whole: the package is complete with the staff, the pilot and the bike". Will there be more pressure for the Le Mans race? "I think he's used to it, he'll like being here and the public will support him. Like Johann Zarco or other pilots".
