The last copy is still available but at a higher price: 150 thousand dollars. On the meaning was Emmanuel Perrotin, the founder of the gallery, to silence the controversy. "Bananas are a symbol of global trade – reads Instagram – and a classic device of humor, and therefore have a double meaning." Furthermore, continued Perrotin, Cattelan usually buys a banana in every place he visits, for then hang it in the hotel room and take inspiration from it.
